Red tulips look attractive when placed at the back of a garden, providing a colorful, tall backdrop. They are identified by their tall stalks and pointed flower petals, growing anywhere from 6 to 15 inches in height. The best times to plant tulip bulbs are in late fall or early winter and in loose, well-drained soil. Larger bulbs produce bigger flowers, so keep this in mind if want large tulip flowers in your garden.
